1.1 What is TRICON?
TRCON is a modern programmable logic and process controller that can provide a high system fault tolerance controller 3 below explains how two things are side-by-side suffering from the main features of TRICON systems. .
1.1.1 What is Fault Tolerance?
Fault tolerance is the most important capability of the TRICON system, which refers to the ability to detect transient and steady-state error situations and take appropriate online actions. With fault tolerance, the safety and utilization of the controller and the processes it controls are enhanced.
TRICON gives its capacity by means of a triple combined multi-component structure (TMR). This system consists of three identical system branches (except for the power module, which is doubly redundant). Each system branch executes the control program independently and works in parallel with the other two branches. The hardware voting mechanism checks and validates all digital inputs and outputs from the field. Analog inputs undergo a median selection process.
Because each branch is isolated from the other two, any single point failure in any branch is not transmitted to the other two branches. If a hardware failure occurs on one side, that failure can be compensated for by the other two. Therefore, the repair work, including the removal and replacement of the failed module in the failed branch, can be carried out with TRCON online without interrupting the process. The system can redistribute the pain itself for full TMR operation.
Extensive diagnostic work for each branch, each module and each functional circuit can detect faults in operation in a timely manner and report them with indicators or alarms. Diagnostics can also store information about faults in system variables. When a fault is found, the operator can use the diagnostic information to modify the control action or to guide its maintenance process.
From the user's point of view, use is simple because this triple system works like a control system. Users connect sensors and actuators to a single terminal and program TRICON with a set of application logic. The rest is handled by TRICON itself.
