The Emerson/Ataxen MVME7100 series VWMEbus single-board computer is one of the first VMEbus products to use the system-on-chip MPC864xD processor, providing a path forward for VMEbus customers using the previous generation of VME, particularly the MPC74sx processor. System-on-chip implementations provide power/heat dissipation, reliability, and lifecycle benefits that alternative architectures typically do not.
The Emerson MVME7100 single-board Computer (SBC) helps original equipment manufacturers of industrial, medical, and defense/aerospace VMEbus platforms increase performance and capabilities to gain a competitive advantage while still protecting essential investments in VMEbus and related technologies. Customers can retain their VWEbus infrastructure (chassis, backplane, and other VWEbus and PMC boards) while improving performance and extending lifecycle. In addition, the extended life cycle of Emerson computing products helps reduce development and support confusion caused by frequent product changes.
The combination of a faster processor and the 2eSST VMEbus interface significantly improves performance. New cost-effective peripherals can be easily integrated using the USB interface.
