Basic information :REA101-AAAG ABB arc protection relays in stock
Arc protection relays REA101 and its expansion units REA103 and REA105 are designed for protection of low and medium voltage switchgear. The central unit type REA101 works alone or with the expansion units REA103 and REA105. These expansion units can increase the number of sensor fibers, thereby expanding the area to be protected.
In the case of an arc, the fault location can be quickly located by detecting the area covered by the optical fiber of the sensor that detects the arc. The expansion units REA103 and REA105 are almost identical in design. The main difference between the units is that the REA105 offers two fast trip outputs that are capable of opening, for example, two circuit breakers for a bus coupler or duplex feeder. This enables selective tripping. The arc protection relay REA101 has two output ports, each of which can be connected to up to 5 expansion units.

Self-monitoring units for monitoring sensor fiber, operating voltage, and cables between the central and expansion units must always comply with national and local electrical safety regulations.
· Dangerous voltages may occur on the connector even if the auxiliary voltage is disconnected. The frame of the device must be carefully grounded.
· Only qualified electricians can perform electrical installation.
· Sensor fibers must be handled according to the instructions given by the sensor fiber manufacturer.
Setup and configuration changes must be made with the auxiliary power supply voltage (Uaux) disconnected. Failure may occur if the connected power supply voltage is changed.
