The MPL-B580-M/22AA servo motor is a 460-volt AC low inertia quality permanent magnet rotary servo motor manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It is a member of the MPL family of servo motors with a rated speed of 3800 revolutions per minute and an output power of 7.9 kilowatts. This three-phase motor has a continuous stall torque rating of 34 N-m and a continuous stall current of 32 amps. It has a rotor inertia of 0.00289 and is equipped with a multi-turn high-resolution encoder that provides absolute position feedback within 4096 turns. Encoders do not require batteries. It is driven by the same drive that controls the motor. The Allen-Bradley MPL-B5801-M/22AA servo motor is ideal for applications where small motors require high power and high torque performance. The brushless design of its high-energy rare earth magnets provides faster acceleration, and the design of its windings allows it to deliver higher torque performance than conventional servo motors.
The MPL-B5801-M22AA servo motor has a rack size diameter of 165 mm, with an IEC mounting flange and mounting guide, which allows the motor to be properly aligned with the machine when the user installs the motor. This type of motor requires an external braking mechanism, and it does not have a motor mounted brake. A pair of circular bayonet connectors facing the motor shaft is the connector option available on the MPL-B580J-M/22AA servo motor. These connectors are fixed, and they have high shock and vibration resistance to ensure that the motor cables do not come loose during operation. The motor has factory-installed shaft keys for securing the pulley mechanism and couplings that are mechanically connected to the motor.
