Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1606-XL480E Switching power modules are manufactured as part of the Allen-Bradley Announcement 1606-XL Switching Mode power supply line. It has an input voltage of 230 volts and a frequency between 47 and 63 Hertz. The power supply has a continuous operating voltage tolerance range of 184 to 264 volts AC or 270 to 370 volts DC, as well as a short-term (1 minute) voltage tolerance of 170 to 280 volts AC or 250 to 400 volts DC at 24 volts and 20 amps. The Allen-Bradley 1606-XL48OE supply has an input current of 5 amps and a typical inrush current of 33 amps at 264 volts AC. The unit has an output voltage range of 24 to 28 volts, which can be adjusted by using a front panel potentiometer with a preset voltage of 24 volts, guaranteeing an adjustment range of 0.5%.
Allen-Bradley 1606-XL480E Switching power supply units are designed to operate on long-life electrolytic units rated at 105 degrees Celsius. It also has a high level of reliability as only four aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used and they do not require small aluminum electrolytic capacitors. If the operator wishes to protect the primary side of the power supply by using a circuit breaker or fuse, it is recommended to install a 10 amp slow acting fuse or an additional protector module such as the 1492-SPU1C100 module. Be sure to check local codes and ordinances to ensure proper installation. The 1606-XL48OE power supply supports parallel operation of up to ten units. The output V/I characteristics can be changed to 25 volts at 0.4 amps or 24 volts at 20 amps to achieve current sharing. This can be done by moving the bridge without turning on the device.
